About Us

We are your typical suburban family of 5, minus the picket fence and dog. We've had a pretty 'normal' life (so far) - get married, get a mortgage, and have kids. What next?!

I've always been one to question the status quo. The whole career thing, climb the corporate ladder, get a higher salary just didn't seem to cut it for me. Something was still missing. So a few years ago, I bit the proverbial bullet and jumped into the exciting and uncertain world of entreprenuership. It's one of the best things I've ever done.

Hubby, on the other hand, is the more stable one between us. Thank goodness for that! He's happy with his day job and shares my passion for travel. As an added bonus, he loves photography so we're always sure to come home with some great travel snaps. Often though the most memorable moments just can't be captured on any camera but are forever etched in our minds.

Then we have our kids - Cat (2000), Bee (2003), and Mig (2009) - who keep us on our toes and inspire us to reach for greater heights. In reality, they are partly to blame for our wanderlust. There's so much we want them to see, to experience. Our children live such 'sheltered' lives growing up in suburban Australia. With our travels, we hope to change that. We want to stimulate their curiosity and encourage them to explore by showing them a bit of what's 'out there'. We want them to see and experience the world and it's people as they are.

Growing up my parents always said travel was the best form of education. Now as an adult, I share that belief. We'd like to leave our children with the gift of a 'world-class' education - literally - with the world as their classroom. An education that not only teaches history, art, math and science but more importantly, one that allows all of us to experience and learn about culture and people. If we can achieve this as parents, then our job is done.

So as we work towards this goal with our children one trip at a time, one place at a time, we've created this Blog to capture and share our stories with anyone who cares to follow it. Some stories may bore you, some may entertain you, some may make you laugh. Hopefully ALL our stories will inspire you to take your children and do the same.

One of my closest friends shared this quote with me when I told her about one of our most daring and far-flung travel plans to-date. Now I share it with you.

“Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone.”

– Pablo Picasso
